Check the directory .mozilla/firefox/ in your home folder. Your
history and other files are stored in folders(one folder for each
profile) in this directory.Please reply what are the contents of this
directory.If this is not empty,you can get your things back.

In the above directory check for a file called profiles.ini ,check if its blank.

try running firefox with a profile manager option , hit alt+F2 and run
 -> firefox -profilemanager
