Recently my wvdial has been causing problems
whenever my mobile gprs disconnects -wvdial should normally redial.
But now it hangs showing "/dev/rfcomm1 Input/output error"
It hangs-- it doesn't quit on Ctrl+C.
So the only way i found was to kill wvdial...

i do a sudo pkill wvdial

i check using ps -A but wvdial is still there

i also tried using kill -9 <pid>

By not killing wvdial the /dev/rfcomm1 is shown in use...i cant dial
using any other wvdial..

How to kill wvdial?

If i cant kill wvdial ,how to free /dev/rfcomm1 ?
