As raru saidf easiest way to find out if the problem is with your DVD is to check it with another computer.If it works with another computer then we can move on to find why it doesn't work on your computer. If it is not possible for you to check with another computer,(or if it works with another computer) you will have to turn off the splash screen of linux mint while booting the dvd from your computer. I dont know how exactly you do it linux mint.But here is how to do it generally: You will have to press e when the boot option shows up.Move to the line starting with 'kernel ... ' or with "linux .. " press e again ..remove the last two words 'quite splash' ..press esc and then b when you are done...This will boot the live CD.All the messages will be shown .Note the message it shows when it hangs and tell us.
