We had conducted our first workshop on migration assistance at Christ Nagar School. In order to avoid the risk and to check the venue I visited the School in the morning. Santhosh was not in good health from yesterday. So I was prepared to handle the session which he was suppose to do. Santhosh fell ill. So he couldn't come to the program.
We started our program at 2.10pm and it finished at 4.30pm. Representatives of FSUG TVM: Anoop John Vimal Joseph Mahesh M mohan. Sooarj Kenoth. Ganesh Sri. Thomas Sir gave a short welcome speech. He introduced us to the teachers. Then Anoop John gave his talk on Free Software and Free Software Philosophy. Next session was handled by Sooraj Kenoth(me). He gave an overall introduction to latest i...@shool version(Testing). He showed some default desktop top application in it. Also described how to install new packages and what a things should care during OS installation. In the end of his session he showed a demo installation of the OS. In the final session Vimal Joseph demonstrated Tux paint, GVR and some tools that can be used as teaching aids not only in IT, but also other subjects like mathematics and other subjects. He explained and demonstrated the Free Software contribution of IRUMBANAM SCHOOL Students. How they added stamps in Tux-paint, how they translated and all. That was wonderful session for the teachers. He showed how to use all the freedoms in Free Software. I hope now they are really interested Free Software. Next step: Today we gave an introduction to i...@school and how to install it. In the coming Friday(11th June) the same teacher will start installing i...@shool into the school systems. There are 50 systems. We need more volunteers to support this program. About our regular meeting Thomas Mani Sir said that we can conduct our meeting at the school only if any of the teachers in attending our meeting. Now some of the teacher would like to attend our meeting. So I hope we can organize our meeting at the school it self.
