But this was the very first thing that i did, the buggy network manager of
karmic dosen't react after making these settings and plugging the usb
modem.. :(

That's why i tried to configure wvdial. I checked the modems vendor id and
product id through lsusb and then run modprobe with them. Then i configured
wvdial.conf file and ran sudo wvdial.
But its showing that /dev/ttyUSB0 dosen't exists. I confirmed that by
running dmesg | grep tty, and there was no ttyUSB0 or any tty for that
matter except console tty.

Is there any other way to force karmic to create one such tty when the usb
modem is plugged.
