this is not something new, even south indian bank's online banking
service needs internet explorer. i guess these solutions were
developed when IE6 was dominant one. now its gonna cost them hell of a
lot make those services standard compliant. luckily though SBI and
associates(you can say the common man's bank) services are browser and
platform agnostic  and even persuade the consumers to use only the
current version of the mainstream browsers.
