Well I also have faced the same issues , but in my case only when the website has some huge/broken JavaScript running . In your case does it happen every time you open new tabs ? Does it happen after you clear cache,cookies etc ? Also do tell us if you are using flash plugin as flash tries to crash the browser more frequently .
