Hi Jinu, Could you tell us which version of Ubuntu is it? I have heard Ubuntu 11.04 has some bugs which are not yet sorted out especially with its new Unity interface. Try to install Ubuntu 10.10 from a USB, its safe from your windows partition. It is safe and you wont have these problems.
