i donot know, i checked the hard disk again (by shaking if there was a clinging sound) but it appears fine, i changed the IDE cables and also changed many cds, it could not be the cd and the drive coz it works fine on other system ( the cds are a bit scrached) but on installing the installation freezes and says it cannot write. but BOSS did work in getting written. I still have not got a new cd, got some iso, so planning to move to next level. Xfce -LXDE etc are so geek like, need some thing that looks human.... know any good mix of both. Will look on bodhi linux too... The drives can run if on windows, so i guess it ok, may be its not strong to be formatted ... or sort of.. but will tell after tomorrow or monday what i settled and may be i can convince the family that owns this to learn linux .. hehe.. subin -- "Freedom is the only law".
