dear dr,
Pls look at the content of /etc/apt/sources.list (or is it sources.lst?) see
if ubuntu repo line/s - each line starting in deb pertains to one distinct
repo connection - are there as commented out. if there, uncomment the
required lines; save file and as root run 'apt-get update'. one can also do
this from synaptic package manager as well.
