Hello, Software Freedom Day 2014 is on September 20th. We are planning to organize the SFD celebrations for Thiruvananthapuram at Press Club with a public event showcasing some of the successful government level Free Software implementations in Kerala. There will be talks by representatives from the following government agencies who have migrated to Free Software in the past
a) IT@School b) Khadi Board c) KSEB d) Niyamasabha These organizations will also be recognized and felicitated by the IT Secretary. The celebrations are scheduled to start at 3:00PM at the press club. The event is being branded as being co-hosted by ICFOSS and FSUG Thiruvananthapuram. We are also planning to run GNU/Linux install fests in multiple colleges around the event. If anybody is interested in volunteering for the event or the install fests please let me know. We believe that there will be queries from media and public on Free Software applications. It would be good to have people who have experience in diverse Free Software applications around to answer these queries. If any of you have any ideas for posters please send over designs and we can print those on A3 size sheets and have those displayed at the venue. Additionally I believe that those of us who are in the group and who are in and around Thiruvananthapuram can come together, have some fun and look at reviving physical activities in the user group.
