Dear All,
I have a centOS 5.8 machine, and it has MySQL server version 5.0.95.5 running
I wanted to upgrade it to version 5.5.33-20
I do not want to upgrade the OS or any other packages
Only the mysql version only I need to upgrade

Guidance and advice requested

You could try downloading the updated package SRPM from Fedora build server: koji.fedoraproject.org/koji and then build the RPM from that. This is not as easy as it sounds since you may have to update several other packages as dependencies for the new MySQL.
