Each person who is involved has their own motivation. For me the
motivation is not "to teach" but "to help learn".

Part of the learning process is to learn how to ask questions in
order to get answers.

If people "switch to Linux/FOSS" but learn nothing in the process
they will only harm FOSS in the long run.[*]

There are always newcomers, so mails about "Do not top-post",
"Read the Fine manuals" ... other such examples of mild-mannered
swearing is a permanent aspect of such fora.

Another part of the learning process is that the cursing eventually
stops and turns to admiration but _only_ if you do actually learn!

[*] The 'net is currently full of posts from recently converted
MacOS-ers who say (effectively):

        "Linux --- been there, done that! I want to do some _real_ work now."

Clearly, there was some aspect of the learning experience that they
did not "get"!
