5657 is a "short code" provided by the Telco. Note that you need to
procure a short code from every provider -- Airtel, Reliance, RPG, etc.
so they can route the SMS destined for that short code to your end.

If you are handling a large volume of SMS, then it's best that the Telco
directly routes the SMS to your computer. You don't need a cell phone
at your end. However, your computer needs to support the appropriate
SMS routing/delivery protocols -- TAP, SNPP, UCP, etc.

Once the SMS is delivered to your computer, you can parse it and take
any action you desire.

If you just want to test this with a low volume of SMS messages, then
just plug any compatible cell phone to your computer with the appropriate
software. Eg. A nokia phone with gnokii.
