We are a visual effects company and do not typically handle sound editing. Inkscape and Audacity - We don't use these tools in-house, so I'm not in a position to comment on them. However I hear they're pretty good tools. Gimp - We have worked closely with Gimp. More specifically, we have built several enhancements to the Gimp code such as the ability to manipulate high resolution images, support for floating point pixel values etc. These enhancements have been released to the community under the name of 'CinePaint' (www.cinepaint.org) Blender - We do not use blender in any of our productions right now. However we do have several blender enthusiasts in the organization who use it in their personal projects.
