Mahesh, 1. Linux is basically to support Open and free Source formats as per GPL 2. Ubuntu's specialty is within its boundaries of Open and free source. But it will supply restricted drivers for users with intimation of restriction.
Normally Ubuntu supports ogg and FLAC file formats for Audio and Vedio. Please post the file format you used and try to get required codecs For Mr. Kenneth, Sir, I accept Mandriva is more flexible than Ubuntu but It is not an single solution. It is one of the way.
