First of all, forget the software. We have a paper called "Visual Programming". The paper is brilliant taking into account the fact that we actually write esoteric C branded the Win32 API. Whether I use the knowledge of the API and of VC++, I know not. But I have most certainly got a lot of insights as to how we can twist C. I wonder if even Microsoft actually uses its Win32 API now. I wouldn't blame Anna University through and through for the usage of these tools. They always consider the lowest common denominator. So when they teach a Civil guy a word processor, they teach him Microsoft Word and Excel. Consider the fact that they taught him OpenOffice or Abiword with gnumeric. At the XYZ civil company he goes to, they are going to be running <TADA!> Microsoft Office. Being from a software-ignorant background, they are used to Abiword instead! Btw. Oracle? We used MS Sql server. A different trigger syntax, other non-std stuff, It was |-|3|_|_. When it comes to graphics, we actually don't have too many Adobe replacements atm. As the condition improves, we will have to sort this out. Please consider the other end of the spectrum too. For Network Programming and Mgmt, we use Unix Network Programming Vol:1. The operating systems lab was based on GNU/Linux. @Kenneth http://annauniv-tamilnadu.blogspot.com/2009/01/why.html --- Ashok `ScriptDevil` Gautham _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email [email protected] with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
