Transfers cannot affect my morale. I am in a parking lot now, like the way I was parked in Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation Limited for a while. The Government would call me again to do some difficult assignment. But the resolve is firm - will work straight only. No role for corruption or deviations from public interest. I am enjoying my present postings which has no target (small savings target). 15 minutes every alternate day is the job content. I am seriously learning high definition video editing. Intend to commence a write up on my experience in each posting. It would make an interesting story for youngsters. The moral of the story is that when the Government gives a heavy assignment, enjoy doing it. And when it chooses to provide an assignment which has no job content or very less job content, learn to enjoy it too. Sort of a paid holiday after a hectic assignment. I am enjoying my present posting. Uma Shankar has set a record of sorts. His transfer last Friday to the Small Savings department from the post of Managing Director of Arasu Cable TV Corporation was the fourth in just six months. Said to be an efficient, tech-savvy officer and known for his role in developing and promoting e-governance, he has been credited with the introduction of open source software during his brief stint in ELCOT (Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited). His transfer order came a day after the officer told the media in Vellore that it would be better for the State to take over the Sumangali Cable Vision (SCV). The officer was also critical of the damage caused allegedly by the SCV to the Arasu Cable TV infrastructure in some parts of the state. Earlier, Mr Uma Shankar was said to have been transferred from ELCOT after he found fault with an errant IT firm that was run by a person with connections. The officer also incurred the wrath of colleagues for publicly voicing his views against the alleged discrimination of Dalits. The story of bureaucrat turned politician Sivakami is no different.
