Subject: [Ilugc] suse 10.2 in acer loptop (ELCOT)
Dear LUGs,
ELCOT supplied acer laptops to schools. It is very slow
in performance. I stopped PostgreSQL, Mysql and oracle Database service and
bind etc. eventhough the system performance is slow.
Guidelines are needed to fine tune the system performence

Hi Padhu,
Performance varies according to hardware configuration. Please note the
following tips:
* Be sure the swap partition size is double of RAM.
* Use the 'top' command to view which processes consume more CPU power.
* If you are not using samba, disable 'nmb' and 'smb' services.
* Disable print services
* Disable smart card and bluetooth services whenever not in use.
