Did you do anything different each time? I have a method which you
may find useful.

Whenever, I start *anything* new I take a small notebook and a pencil
and write down each step so that I will know each thing which I tried
and when it worked and when it failed.

This is particularly useful with computers since they are (more than
any other gadget!) required to the produce the same output in response
to the same input.

What does "hang" mean? Does the keyboard not give any sign of
working? When you press CapsLock or NumLock key do the relevant lights
go on/off on the keyboard/computer? Does the mouse not give any sign
of moving the pointer on the screen? Have you tried Ctrl-Alt-F1 to
switch to the text console?

In fact, to help you it would help if you clearly spell out what you
mean by Ubuntu 8.10. Did you use the Live CD? Did you install to Hard
disk?

Regards,

Kapil.

P.S. "2" is not a word in English or any other language! The word is
"to" or "two".
