I do not think there will be one command for that - probably a whole batch of 
them, including one written by our luggie to monitor the laptop battery. top 
will give info about memory and df and du about disk usage and partitions. ps 
will tell you about running processes. tailing /var/log/messages while 
plugging in and removing devices will give some info about the devices and 
ifconfig will give info on network devices ...
