Which suse do you have 11.0 or 11.1 or 11.2 or 11.3?
Ubuntu 8.10 has kernel 2.6.26 , OpenSuse 11.0 has probably 2.6.25
Please run Ubuntu (atleast Live) and try to find out the kernel module
which is used as a driver for your NIC.
