I personally feel one should use bluefish/<any text editor> for authoring web pages. This is not a WYSIWYG interface. But it will allow you to gain greater control over your web pages. However, if you are in a hurry, use KompoZer which is "almost" a successor to nvu. It is a WYSIWYG tool.
