Many pendrive has 2 partitions - one is USBdisk itself and other is ROM type (read only) for their solftware load etc, might be you have not removed usbdrive properly from window (case NTFS ). So only ROM part is mounted and Drive is not mounted due to unclean removal ! and you trying to paste in read only area of drive.
