A request for a talk: I have been observing that most newbie programmers who are used to he doze world do not know about "using the computer" from a usage perspective. I have observed that they do a line by line analysis, which can be done by a one or more RegEx find and replaces. They know RegEx to some extent and they would have used it in their code, but didn't realize that it can be used in the editors as well. This is not restricted to just RegEx. Consider the piece of code that reads more than 30 columns from a database and assigns it to some variables. This could very well be simplified by using regex/sed/ cut/ etc... or if you have some GUI editors such as Kate, just keep using find and replace.... Would it be nice, if we can organize a talk on "improving productivity by better utilizing the tools available", with a lot of times for Question and Answers? Any takers? (I might not be able to attend the session myself, due to my office timings). with regards, Natarajan. _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email [email protected] with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
