While a faculty is definitely not to be expected to spoon-feed students, it
is the duty of a faculty to introduce important concepts to the students and
act as guides. If the student has to learn everything by himslf/herself from
scratch, then why does one have colleges? The student might as well stay at
home and learn by himself/herself. Especially, in the case of theoretical
concepts, the student needs good guidance and motivation from teachers. A
teacher has the capacity to make a student love/hate a subject, so the role
of a faculty cannot be taken lightly.
