Sadly, even if you buy any of these XP netbooks and install Linux yourself , you would have already paid the Microsoft tax. You are left with no choice but to do it yourself. This site gives status of various lInux distros in various laptops /netbooks. http://www.linux-laptop.net/ There are very few choices for models with Linux supported by manufacturers. Netbooks gave good exposure to Linux and they have value and purpose considering the low cost , small size and portability. But manufacturers prefer XP . In fact Asus ,the first one to start this netbook trend buckled to pressure and in fact even started the " It is better with windows campaign now" http://www.itsbetterwithwindows.com/ for eee pcs. http://ostatic.com/blog/asus-delivers-a-sexy-netbook-but-is-it-ditching-linux Let us hope things change with ARM , MIPS and Snapdragon based netbooks which work with Linux , android etc. Cheers varadarajan _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email [email protected] with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
