I'd say it is a big plus since it means managers aren't poking their
collective nose into how you are doing your work, less interference in
one area might suggest the same in others.  It also shows they're
secure in who they are, and don't feel that forcing false, lets call
it "team spririt", is required.  The fact that employees can go again
the "team spirit" of the last sentence, shows tolerance and an open
culture.  Of course I didn't think all this back then, what I did
think was "it's cool that Yahoo employees are not barred from using
Gmail."
