I did the same with my photon+ connection and made my laptop a NAT box. All I did was to get firestarter (if you are using ubuntu it is in the repository). It has a simple configuration, I setup dhcpd on the machine that had the photon+ stick and it worked like a charm. You can also configure your firewall settings with firestarter.
