Well, these were an IMPORTANT set of pictures which i had adored when I was viewing via my DSLR and accidentally formatted it while setting some other control (never happened to me in the last 3 years!!). So, i was a little restless and impatient(and what not..). And after a sleepless night checking for probable softwares i had the followig considerations: 1) All the pictures should be recovered 2) The pictures should not be scaled down - mine is a 6MP DSLR and i was shooting at JPEG Fine - so the picture quality should be retained. 3) I dont have a card reader, connect my DSLR to comp via a USB port - so this interface shouldnt cause any probable problems in recovery. (subtle issue, but can cause some big pain in the a$$) 4) Software should be free (but could have bought it if it was REALLY good) 5) If i am trying on this Linux, then the SD card should retain its sanctity so that i can try out in other OSes and compare the experiences. After some more restlessness, i finally decided that i would try my luck with this <http://www.mjm.co.uk/freephotorecoverysoftware.html>software. And i am happy now that all was recovered. Also, i was surprised to see some of my older pictures (shot in Kashmir/Ladakh etc in July) , after which the SD card was formatted a few times , been recovered too. Am in the process of trying this recovery process in Linux now. Might as well write my own mem block reader ;) -V- http://twitter.com/venkasub _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email [email protected] with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
