u can enter as single user mode then u can change the root password, for
entering single usermode,
when the grub prompt appear:
1. use up or down arrow key
2.select the os line, then press e to edit
3. u will get 3 lines root (hd0,0), kernel and initrd
4. select kernel line and press e to edit
5. then u will find one single line which is ur kernel image line, give
space and give 1
6. press enter, it will come back to the old menu
7. select again kernel line and press b to boot the system
8. once system will find 1 in kernel part, it will move to single user mode,
by saying telling init to go to single user mode
9. give passwd command, it will ask root's new passwd, change it then press
exit to go to the default run-level which is mentioned in ur file
/etc/inittab.
10. Otherwise u can also int run-level, to move to particular run-level.
