Well...I disabled the sound notifications it as soon as I installed Ubuntu. It isnt anything like shattering, its like what you get when you hit a connected a mic with your finger. And my mic's muted but there is still the disturbance. All paid jobs absorb and degrade the mind. Have a great day!
