Two years ago one of the world's largest financial organisations constituted a highly-focussed internal business group which seeks to exploit advanced technologies in computation, data and finance for the purpose of out-performing in the global securities marketplace. The group is envisioned to remain small and closely-knit with 2 main centers of operation, New York and Chennai, along with additional operational footprint in Europe. Following on its strong performance since inception, the group is seeking smart people with very strong pragmatic computing skills and a solid engineering/science academic background to grow our Chennai center. For computational requirements, candidates would have demonstrable experience on GNU/Linux, on which platform they would have written significant Python/Perl code with database interaction, or they would have coded multithreaded C/C++. The selected candidate would be extremely hard-working and driven to excel. Due to close collaboration across timezones between geographically remote team members to design, develop, test and deploy changes, the ability to communicate effectively and frequently via email is required. All hires gain expertise in understanding and manipulating data. They will also be ensuring the optimal and highly-performant operation of a multitude of interdependent streams of data manipulation and processing - activities that are deployed within the group's execution/data centers which are colocated at the world's major securities trading hubs. All hires, regardless of background or focus will directly integrate and report into this global team. Due to the group's points of trading presence in different time-zones, work at international hours will often be required, with a concentration around the trading hours across the Asia-Pacific exchanges, for which the Chennai team takes primary responsibility. Work will be challenging and individuals will be encouraged and mentored to grow in related subject areas that will have long-term benefit to the group.
