No, you can't just blindly make that assumption. For all you know the only thing
wrong might be the installation of grub. Please don't ask people to reinstall
without encouraging to at least learn what might've gone wrong.
To the OP: You post doesn't have too many details. Assuming that you are new to
linux, even getting the relevant details and recovering your system might be a
bit painful over this mailing list medium. I'd suggest you take the help of some
local linux user to figure out and fix your problem. Send out a mail mentioning
the area and mail id where you may be contacted and hopefully some kind
enthusiast might be able to sort out your problems.
