This seems to be a frequenting problem for people around the world. Even me... :D Well, I use a tool called PhotoRec that is bundled with TestDisk. It must be available o the Ubuntu repos. If not, follow this link<http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download> . But I must warn you, do not write any data on to the partitions/hard disk. You will loose data.
