You are a lucky guy. In my experience TATA, Airtel and BSNL all have
DNS server uptime issues. I used all of them simultaneously for over 3
years and have had issues. Once I switched to OpenDNS and other public
servers, this problem got resolved. The pity is that when we call
these ISPs and tell them their DNS is down, the call centre sees
stars. In BSNL DSL, one has to contend with their PPP auth server
going down often albeit for small periods like 1/2 to 1 hour. It is
better to wait it out than go thro' the pain of trying to explain to
the call centre guy who assumes we know nothing of networking. This
experience is in Bangalore though, not Chennai.
