Dear boys and girls, If you wish to play back the sequence of commands you type at the console you can always use script(1) which starts a new shell and gives the commands you type.
But it is dumb and can't understand command sequences. It doesn't really play back. It only records and lets you know what all commands you typed. But with ttyrec(apt-get install ttyrec) and ttyplay you can actually get the real video. ;) It is a funny sort of video that plays in the console. Try it out. It understands colors, it is really really cool. ;) For instance, $ ttyrec out.tty <Type commands> $ <Ctrl-d> (exit shell) Now play back what you typed in the speed you typed. $ ttyplay out.tty I wonder what the video format is. If you can convert it into mp4 for the web with ffmpeg or something it is still better. I have done screencast recording with ffmpeg before. That can capture X but ttyrec only deals with text. -Girish -- Gayatri Hitech web: http://gayatri-hitech.com SpamCheetah Spam filter: http://spam-cheetah.com _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
