Hi,
A quick note on Cyclone and Bhavan's Yi:
Bhavans YI is a part of the Young Indians net, an integral part of the
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and comprises of a group of young Indian
achievers and professionals from various walks of like. It lives with the
belief that young Indians can contribute to the community and society at large.
It was started to involve the youth in social and developmental projects. It
focuses on issues of national importance and motivates a generational change in
the economic and social agenda of India.
Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram(my school) has housed Yi for five years.
Some of the projects done by us are:
A book mark sale in Odyssey, the proceeds of which were donated to charity
Traffic management in and around school, encouraging car pooling for our school
students
The green cover, where we planted saplings in our school premises. On
International Climate Action Day, 350 saplings were planted as 350 is the
safest ppm of carbon dioxide limit in the atmosphere.
A special Diwali sale
We donated clothes and toys collected from our students to a school for the
mentally and physically challenged, Gnana Deepam
Slum empowerment project wherein we aim on empowering the slum dwellers of our
locality by teaching them employable skills.
We conducted a medical camp for them and managed to help 200+ with the aid of
VS Hospital
We shall also be creating awareness on certain issues which will be done in the
form of street plays, seminars, etc,.
As part of our projects this year, we are organising an a Educational
Fair, to give the school drop-outs from the nearby slums to give them a chance
to earn a living.
