Dear KG, This is the conundrum we face every minute. There never are easy answers. Conidering exchange possibly uses some proprietary protocols. I am not Microsoft expert to comment on that further. One thing I seem to notice is that everyone wants a "drop-in" replacement. There are no open source drop-in replacements. I once had a tough time because of bad instalDisk-1. Enterprise nowadays demand / expect a guarantee on their critical services availability. Each software componant necessarily requires a service component associated with it just like hardware componant or consultancy componant, overhead component, logistic componant etc. which industry should find and nurture. /ramble Just my 2 paise worth.
