Producing open source software: * Qt had it's code dual licensed, they sold commercial licenses. Then TrollTech was bought by Nokia, so the shareholders made money there too. * Ghostscript had a deal with FSF to make the latest-but-one version GPL, but they sold the latest version with a commercial license. Using open source software: * A graphics artist using GIMP will make money the same ways as someone using Photoshop. * A journalist using OpenOffice is selling his articles.
