Hello All, FOSSIS - A Linux User Group and Open Source Initiative of Kalasalingam University has planned to conduct, two days workshop on Free and Open Source Software on 9th and 10th of April 2011. To give greater exposure to peoples who already knows what is GNU/Linux and wants to start a project or contribute to any existing project. We have the following session on the workshop,
First day: ---------- 1) Free Software philosophy 2) How to contribute 3) Basic commands & shell scripting Second day: ----------- 4) Introduction to GCC 5) Auto tools, version control system 6) Introduction to existing community projects Activities: ----------- 7) Group discussion on case studies 8) Initiating projects and allocating mentors by the end of workshop. Though this workshop is for to Students of the Kalasalingam University, we can accommodate students from other colleges also.
