First explain what it is that you are trying to achieve.

Packaging systems have a purpose; one of them is to keep your
installation in a sane state.

It is not advisable to take a DEB package from one distro (e.g.
Ubuntu) and try to install it in Debian just because both have the DEB
packaging system.   The same applies for distros based on RPM
packaging.

Each distro has it's own set up package dependencies and it is not
advisable to break the dependencies.


Also, do not cross post such type of queries that will likely generate
responses.  You may be a member of all the groups but members of the
respective groups are not necessarily present in other groups.  In
such case, you should take the time to summarize the responses and
post them to all the groups.
