I personally will suggest to try wine(install inside windows) to check
whether it is okay for you or not. But that doesn't matter now.

I am not sure about windows as I got away from windows few years back, but I
think you can look at msconfig. open run(windows button + r) and type
msconfig

I think that option will be there and you can uncheck that option. Also,
Kindly avoid SMS type of words.
