let forget about the machine being Linux and let me know if such a
software which detects non hot pluggable hardware changes exists
either in windows or mac or Linux or any where. I think these kind of
things are part of firmware released by the hardware maker. I remember
blade servers having management console which if properly configured
can alert the ops guy with email about a failure or something. But it
is still a firmware and not a application on top of OS but produced by
server maker. So if you want such functionality get a hardware that
has these or write your own firmware or if you could find one such
thing post back to this list , I am very much interested. My guess is
such thing does not exists unless supported by your motherboard .
