If you are talking about a database then syncs are done much quicker. But all that is only when you have a colocated setup. That is not the case for you. You can use VPN to connect the two locations, use something like IPsec or even SSLVPN. Then you can synchronize the database using the hints given in other posts. If nothing works you can use rsync between them.
