It works(i.e. the default page loads) for me with the
suggested scenario. I am on Debian. I had setup mysite.web to
127.0.0.1 in /etc/hosts, accessed the site from firefox, disconnected
my LAN cable, cleared the cache, and was able to access it again. To
double check, I accessed mysite.web from w3m as well when the LAN
cable was disconnected and it works. Thanks
