IT is a very generic term , yes there are so many parts to it which we feel should or could have been better . I have been wailing about the poor state of affairs for years, but > nobody wants to look beyond Linux. People do not even try FreeBSD. > its about choice and perceptions they think Linux will get them a Job, fame , money or whatever , yes i do understand the point you are trying to make its a mix of philosophy and being practical and reality which folks fail to understand. > My idea is to share practical knowledge in the form of workshops and > hands on training using staff and if possible also hire people from that. > +1 , have you started designing a course ? > The training and learning industry is also quite low class and not to my > taste. > if it is not training then what ? hackathons ( also a most used/abused word) , Bootcamps ? what would you like to call it . It is full of low cadre people who are good for nothing; who only talk > , talk and talk. > it has reached a new crescendo ready made .ppt just to be delivered .. and yes you get paid handsomely for the act :-) > Whereas knowledge sharing is meant for people with real life problem > solving experience. > How about something like Khanacademy , i started a year back fossacademy by forking the code from Khan do you think it is the way to go ....? > But no use blaming. That is just the way things are. > I have done training for a living; I burnt my fingers. As to writing a > book it is worse. > Hmm since you have tasted both the training and writing a book , i am still wondering what business model your hands on so called training will be i am referring to the form and delivery and how people are going to perceive it and ultimately pay . > I am happy doing this. > it your wish someday someone will i am sure compile something using it , if they discover it in the first place. i am still am confused about the path you want to take , my be now folks on the list will thrown us out saying this discussion is OT here :-) -Satya fossevents.in _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
