To the best of my knowledge, all desktop and laptop DVD-RW units can play and burn Dual Layer media. I have had no problems playing the official Star Wars DVDs on my Linux laptop. I have also had DVD units "loose" their functionality over a period of time e.g. it will read DVD but not able to boot from DVD etc. Your unit may be in this category. My experience with the external USB DVD units has been similar. In general life expectancy has been about 12-18 months with the units (desktop, laptop, and USB external) I have had. -- Arun Khan _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
