Hope you have watched the above video fully. The point I wanted to make was about the ingenuity. The above was an example of use of COTS in interesting ways. Imagining where a pointer would cause and looking for stack/buffer overflows in open source software is interesting. But these kinds of project can fire imagination of young students in the direction of using existing resources and building the little "glue-on" parts which will help them learn greatly. Given it is hardware, did anybody notice the mention of Microcontroller bit in the health check jugaad? I reckon this forum is for free and open source: software/hardware/ideas/information. The raison d'etre for this post the fact that many requests for project ideas seen on this list in the past few years by students.
