There's no http proxy.

I will try your suggestion when the problem laptop and the router meet
again (one's in my office and the other at home). I think there was another
thread a few months back where this MTU issue cropped up! But what makes it
curious is that one Ubuntu m/c can connect while another running the same
version (11.10) cannot!
